Pointer is PointFive's in-app, context-aware AI assistant that enables you to ask natural language questions about your cloud cost data and receive instant, actionable answers.

Getting Started with Pointer
Accessing Pointer
Pointer is available in the top navigation bar of your PointFive platform. Simply click the Pointer icon to open the AI assistant panel.
In addition, you can trigger a conversation with Pointer by requesting a summary of an opportunity or an anomaly as shown bellow:
What Data Can Pointer Access?
Pointer has access to the following data within your PointFive account:
Opportunities: Single opportunities, groups, and aggregations
Resources: Specific resources, aggregations, resource events, and resource opportunities
Anomalies: Individual anomalies, anomaly lists, and cost contributors
Billing Data: CUR (Cost and Usage Reports) and FOCUS data (available to admins only)
Commitment Optimizations: Recommendations for Reserved Instances and Savings Plans

Current Limitations
While Pointer is powerful, there are some current limitations:
Charts: Pointer cannot currently create visual charts (coming soon)
Filtered Links: Cannot generate direct links to filtered pages (coming soon)
UI Elements: Cannot answer questions about specific UI elements or what you're currently viewing on screen, it can answer questions about the data of the current screen.
Billing Data: Full billing data queries are available to admins only
FAQs
Can I disable Pointer for my organization?
Yes. Pointer can be disabled upon request through your Customer Success Manager. Self-service control for this setting will be available soon.
What if Pointer doesn't understand my question?
Pointer will ask clarifying questions or suggest rephrasing your query. You can also use the suggested prompts as examples of how to structure your questions.
Does Pointer remember previous conversations?
Yes, Pointer maintains context within a conversation session, allowing you to ask follow-up questions naturally.
How do I provide feedback on Pointer?
You can provide feedback through your Customer Success Manager or use the feedback mechanisms within Pointer's change.
